Val Duncan is a performer and theatre-maker based in Calgary, Alberta, Canada.
She has been privileged to train nationally and internationally with Double Edge Theatre (USA), Butoh GooSayTen (JPN), Kokoro Dance, and Ghost River Theatre (CAN). She specialises in devising performances of the surreal, the non-human, and the 'wilderness inside the body.'
Since 2008, she has been a member of company with Theatre Encounter, an experimental theatre company in Calgary. In addition to performing, since 2017 she has provided sound design and composed music for the company's projects. In 2012, she and Celene Harder formed Valour & Tea, a company devoted to character-driven, audience-interactive comedy. In 2019, she joined The Old Trout Puppet Workshop for the creation of their newest work Ghost Opera.
